intro to freediving

the art of holding your breath

Apnea, or the practice of holding one's breath, is the foundation for freediving. Apnea gives us the ability to discover the underwater world in its pure and natural setting.

This 2 part workshop will introduce the aspiring freediver to basic techniques that will encourage a longer breath hold in and out of the water. In Part 1 we practice 'dry apnea', meaning to hold one's breath out of the water. In Part 2 we take our new skills to the pool and practice Free Immersion, meaning to pull down a rope in pure freediver fashion!

Each part is approximately 2 hours long. By the end of this workshop you will be amazed at your performance and will have learned to trust your body's natural ability to hold your breath.

Things to bring: loose fitting comfortable clothing, a yoga mat, and water. It's best not to eat for at least 2 hours before the workshop and if possible, avoid caffeine throughout the day.
